The 1788-89 Presidential Election in South Carolina

In late 1788 or early 1789, South Carolina's legislature selected the following to be electors:

• Christopher Gadsden
• John F. Grimke
• Thomas Heyward, Jr.
• Henry Lawrens
• Charles Cotesworth Pinckney
• Edward Rutledge
• Arthur Simkins

All seven voted for George Washington and John Rutledge on February 4, except for one, who substituted John Hancock for Rutledge.
