The 1788 Senate Election in New Jersey

On November 25, 1788, the legislature of New Jersey chose two senators. William Patterson got 45 votes, Jonathan Elmer 29, Abraham Clark 19, and Elias Boudinot 7. Patterson and Clark were duly elected.


On November 13, 1790, Patterson resigned. Philemon Dickinson was selected to replace him.
