The 1960 Presidential Election in Alabama

On November 8, 1960, Alabama's voters voted for eleven at-large electors. Four electoral slates ran.

The Democratic candidates pledged to Kennedy:

The county returns could not easily be ascertained, due to the visible split between the two factions within the Democratic slate. The various sources I have consulted have gone about this matter in varying different ways, which I shall not attempt to figure out. The following returns are marked with the elector they are taken from, rather than the party as a whole.

The Democratic slate was duly elected; their vote was split on December 19, with six going to Byrd and Thurmond and five to Kennedy and Johnson.
